The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has allocated $212 million to expand housing opportunities for very-low income people with disabilities.

This funding is a small but important part of HUD’s overall commitment to meeting the housing needs of all communities, said HUD’s Ethan Handelman.

The money will be used to create or preserve approximately 2,600 affordable rental homes for people with disabilities. This will include 1,400 new units of housing and 1,200 units that will be made accessible through preservation activities.
