He expressed the sentiment that “Your listing, your lead” should be the mantra of lead aggregation. He proposed that instead of allowing the highest bidder to control the flow of leads, companies should instead strive to keep control of the leads that they own.
In order to more effectively control lead flow and lead prices, Duffy argues that prioritizations must be reversed, such as by relying on lead aggregators to distribute leads owned by companies. With this shift in focus, companies can remain in control of their own leads and ensure that they receive fair market pricing. Lead aggregators would then operate as service providers and could focus on distributing company-owned leads at the best market rate.
